FAMILY PROGRAMS & SERVICES
I am committed to building a City where every resident has the support they need to thrive.
During my time on the City Council, I have helped create, enhance and restore programs that support Commerce families, including the YES! program, our Home Beautification, and Rent Subsidy Programs for low-income seniors and veterans, ensuring that housing remains accessible for our most vulnerable communities.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Bringing new development to Commerce and supporting both new and longtime businesses is one of my top priorities. When we do this right, we create good local jobs, grow our City’s revenue, and reduce blight along our key corridors.
On the City Council, I’ve helped launch a Small Business Assistance Program and pushed for major road repairs on commercial corridors like Eastern, Garfield, and Slauson Avenue. These are improvements you can already see taking shape.
Right now, we’re working to bring a full-service supermarket and more restaurant options to Commerce. With your support for my re‑election, I’ll keep fighting to attract quality businesses, strengthen our local economy, and deliver real results for our community.
PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT
Our health is a priority! Commerce faces serious environmental challenges, and we need strong policies and real action to protect our community.
On the City Council, I helped create a Green Building Practices ordinance so any municipal build or renovation that is over 5,000 sq. ft. must meet LEED certification standards. We’re expanding EV chargers at City Hall, installing energy‑efficient LED lighting at major City facilities, and planning solar panels at the Teen Center. We’ve also secured over $14 million in federal grants to electrify our transit fleet and cut harmful emissions.
With your support for re-election, I will keep improving our environmental practices by implementing more renewable energy features at our City facilities, creating more green spaces and increasing our tree canopy in industrial areas to help absorb pollution and protect the health of our families.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Keeping Commerce safe will always be my top priority. We should all feel safe walking our neighborhoods, driving through our streets and parking our cars overnight.
On the City Council, I've supported the enhancement of our Security Camera Rebate program, and added more tools and resources to support our law enforcement and Public Safety personnel. We have also increased the responsibilities of our Public Safety Officers so that they could take on more duties to help ensure the safety of our people.
In my next term, I will continue pushing for more consistent patrolling, work to strengthen law enforcement and community partnerships, and lobby to add more technology to assist in crime prevention.
